My stock (and crypto) portfolio is currently -10% down. Let me explain the story....

Well..... you read the title of the blog right. I've lost almost -10% of portfolio. I luckily only have a small portfolio as I have recently got into investing this year due to the recent rampant inflation that has happened during this crazy year, and I thought 2020 was the end of it. I've lost around £250 in total. Yes, you heard me right....... I guess it is a learning experience.
BEFORE YOU MAKE COMMENTS LIKE, "OMG, HE LOST -10% CAUSE HE WAS EMOTIONAL AND SAW ANDREW TATE SHIRTLESS", I DID NOT LOSE MONEY BECAUSE OF TOP G, STFU AND KEEP READING CAPTAINBONETV. P.S. I aint subscribed to hustlers university as well.

It's May 2022, the rise of Andrew Tate, the red pill movement and the goal of financial freedom became a contagious virus across the internet. I have never invested before in my 24 years of life. If I don't start now, the rewards later will not as satisfactory. I first really truly learnt about the stock market, the different types of ISA's (the UK equivalent of the ROTH IRA/ 401k) and I was binge watching financial videos on youtube. I was tired of being a brokie. Despite me watching all this youtube videos, I NEVER invested. I was too scared. I was scared of fricking things up and losing my money on things I did not know. Even though I had sufficent knowledge on investing/ stocks and a bit on real estate, I hesitated and ignored it.

In July 2022, things changed..... My life circumstances came worse, and I did it...... I opened my first stocks and shares ISA with Vanguard. I quickly deposited £1000 into my account and googled on reddit on what ETFs I should buy. I took the most common ones and bought them. I originally wanted to invest in the S&P 500, but since thats a USA thing, I was unable to invest in this and would require an offshore account. Instead, I invested in VUSA, which is a UK based ETF which tracks the S&P 500. In July, the stock market was rallying, a bullish market was brewing (when the stocks generally go up), and my £1000 saw £30 extra profit returns in 2 weeks. That feeling when I checked my account and saw I got £30 for doing nothing felt good. That is the real american dream.
I started to invest more, over august 2022, I invested another £1500 in vanguard and a further £1000 in an HSBC investing account I was messing around with. I hit £140 profit and it FELT GOOD. But I was concerned, people where saying to sell stocks, the upcoming winter crises, sky high oil prices, and recent surges of energy prices was very concerning indeed. I liquidated my HSBC account giving me a £35 profit which I never since touched since, but left my vanguard etfs alive. I reckon the bull market would continue so instead I bought £500 more like a true degenerate. How costly this mistake was. While that story was going, I wanted to get better returns, so I looked into other avenues of investing, I bought 10g of gold to store for the long term, and I got put on a waiting list to trade stocks.

Unfortunately as september 2022 came, the bull market officially stopped and the bear market (where stocks go down) began. I learned about the federal reserve in america, and how they caused a huge crash in the market by declaring their inflation rates and ways to combat them. I aint gonna lie, I am still new to this shit, I'm still an amateur so I still have no idea what the fricks going on. Anyways, the stock market plummeted -3% everywhere and my profits where all but almost diminshed. Emotional damage...... But I got some good news, I finally opened my stock account to buy stocks.
I knew messing around with individual stocks is a losing game, so I only allowed myself to allocate 10% of my portfolio to individual stocks. The first stock I bought was 1 share of Tescos. Only for £2.50!! What a bargain! Cheaper than a meal deal with a tesco clubcard being used. I was now a proud part owner of Tescos. I dream came true :P

I was buying individual stocks with a low budget to distract me from my vanguard account getting demolished from the global economy. Suprisingly I was doing amazing! My free stock I got for signing up, increased 25% in value. Sweet! A free 8 quid in the bag. I lost some money over the coming days from the general bear market but I invested in rumble and made some of that sweet sweet dollars. Then, liz truss came. She ruined everything.
Liz Truss, the current prime minster of the UK, as I write this article, caused the stocks to crash so bad. My portfolio took a fat hit. Before the pound crashed, my vanguard was looking at an unhealthy -2% return from the general economy, but Liz Truss and the homies at the federal reserve in the US absolutely crashed the stock markets. I went down to -8.5% on my main vanguard account losing arounf £180 and on my trading 212 account (individual stocks), I was hit bad with my stocks going down £50 with rumble crashing from a share price of $12 to a share price of $9. Ouch!!!!!
And here we stand at this current moment. My degeneracy hasn't ended as I finally opened a crypto account with holdings of just around £15. But hopefully, you enjoy my suffering while reading this article. It is only a temporary loss and set back. The real gains are soon to come my fellow apes. <3
